This was sent to me by one of my customers who enjoys using my Breast Cancer Skinny Scarf Pattern to make fun and colorful scarves to sell. She donates portions of her proceeds to charity.

Scarves for Life Day
June 27th


Remember those who have lost the battle!
On June 27, 1993, my son

Clyde Matthew Carr lost his three-year 8-month battle to Leukemia. Researchers work hard to
find the cause and the cure. Not only do I want my son remembered, not only do I want others remembered, but I would like
to be a part of the cure or at least the comfort.

I am establishing a “Scarves 4 Life” day to be celebrated on
June 27th. The scarves, designed by Jennifer J. Cirka of Jaybird
Designs, approx. "85” x 2.5”, sell for $10.00 each. While orange is the color that represents Leukemia and pink for
Breast Cancer, many other colors
represent other cancers. Five of the $10.00 will go to the research of cancer. The Clyde Matthew Carr
Scholarship/Benevolence Fund also contributes.

If you have any questions/concerns, or would like to purchase a scarf,

request information on the colors of cancer awareness as well as fact sheets.

My Little Ballerina

It's that time of year again...Dance Recitals!! Last night we had pictures taken and here are a few. Heather is on the right and her good friend Taylor is on the left. Taylor is 14 days older than Heather and they have been "friends" since they were 3 months old! The theme this year is "Colors" and the girls (along with the rest of their class) will be doing a tap dance to "We're in the Money" and a ballet dance to "Ice Cream Man."

Yum! Yum!

This weekend we harvested our first batch of spinach from our little raised garden!! I can't wait to make a salad with it tomorrow!! We ended up having to pull out our broccoli plants. We did some research and it appears it is too hot where we live to grow broccoli. Oh well, we still have tons of other stuff!

Then, I scored an awesome salad spinner/shredder on freecycle!! Gotta love that!!

25 Reasons I LOVE Crochet

Over at the Crochet Liberation Front Blog, our fearless leader has started a list of reasons why she loves crochet and asked us to join in. So here is my list:

1. All the amazing friends I've made.

2. Seeing my name in a magazine and book.

3. Seeing things that others have made from my designs.
4. Seeing people in things that I have made.
5. The fact that crochet is something that my maternal grandmother used to do.

6. All the different things that can be made from crochet.

7. It is an artform that I can share with others.

8. That I make enough money from my crocheting to support my yarn habit.

9. Seeing my daughter in something that I made.
10. I'm looking forward to teaching my daughter to crochet.

11. That there are so many different techniques to crocheting that I am constantly learning new things.

12. That I can crochet and watch tv at the same time. Not to mention ride in a car, sit at a park, and crochet just about anywhere.

13. All the different types of yarn I get to play with.

14. All the pretty crochet hooks I get to look at...and someday hope to own!

15. That it is faster than knitting.

16. Listening to people "Oh" and "Ah" over things I've made.

17. Blessing others with gifts that I have made.

18. That it is relaxing.

19. That my husband offers his opinion on my designs.

20. Getting a new crochet pattern magazine in the mail.

21. Spotting something crocheted when least expected....at the mall, in antique stores, on tv.

22. The challenge of creating something from an idea in my mind.

23. Actually making something for myself.
24. How proud my family is of me.

25. It makes me happy!

Pooped Pup

Spent the morning at the dogpark again with out Greyt friends. It's starting to get a lot warmer here, so Cash gets hot and tired fast. But boy, did he have a good time!

This Saturday we took a day trip to Goblin Valley State Park in Utah. It was a hot desert day, but we really enjoyed hiking around the fun rock formations! Here are some fun pictures from the day!

Fabrics for the Living Room

This week I hope to find the perfect fabrics for my new living room design. (See this post for more info.)

Now, I am HORRIBLE at picking out fabric combos! LOL!! So I would love any input from my wonderful readers!! My wonderful friend Beth sent me some links, but nothing jumped out at me.

Now, I did find this fabric but I am not a fan of any of the coordinating ones. Figures, huh! I may have to bite the bullet and head down to my local fabric shops and go shopping! Anyone want to dog sit for me??? LOL!!
