Pattern (scarf is worked in two parts both starting at the beginning chain)
With MC, ch 18

Row 1: sc in second ch from hook and each ch across (17sc)

Row 2: ch 3 (counts as first dc now and throughout pattern). Sk 2 sts, {[2dc, ch1, 2dc] in next st, sk 4 sts} 2 times. [2dc, ch1, 2dc] in next st. sk 2 sts, dc in last st. (3 fan sets)

Row 3: ch3, turn. (2dc, ch1, 2dc) in each ch-1 sp. Dc in turning ch.

Row 4-30: repeat row 3.

Row 31: change to CC1. ch3, turn. (2dc, ch1, 2dc) in each ch-1 sp. Dc in turning ch.

Row 32-35: repeat row 3. Finish off at end of row 35.

With RS facing, join MC yarn with a sl st to first unused loop of beginning ch. Sc in same st and each st across. (17sc). Repeat rows 2-35 for second side of scarf. Do not finish off at end of row 35.
Row 36: Scarf Trim. ch1, turn. Sc in each dc and 3sc in each ch-1 sp across. Turn 90 degrees and place 2sc in the end of each row. Turn again and sc in each dc and 3sc in each ch-1 sp across. Turn 90 degrees and place 2sc in the end of each row. Finish off and weave in ends.

Fuzzy Ruffle (make 2, one at each end of scarf)
Row 1: With CC2, attach yarn with a sl st to first sc of row 36. Ch3, dc in each st across. (23dc)

Row 2-3: ch3, turn. Dc in each dc across. Finish off an weave in ends at the end of row 3.

NOTE: I find that when working with fuzzy yarns it is easier to place your dc in between the sts of the previous row. Just keep counting to make sure you have the correct number.
Want a matching hat?

This scarf perfectly matches the Sweet Shells Hat from my Beanie Collection set of patterns!

Clean up time!

So, I've been very nice and have been taking both my daughter and our neighbor to Vacation Bible School for the last two weeks. Since I take the neighbor, Kathryn, in the mornings, I then have to keep her the rest of the day until her parents come home. Since today is the last day I'll have her, I decided that it was time for them to clean up the playroom. Looks like they have a lot to do, huh???

Wonder how long it will take them?? Any guesses? Well, we they've already been at it for over half an hour!

Looks like we are in for a loooooooooooooong afternoon!

Materials
~Any yarn and corresponding hook size [my samples are usually #2 (fine, baby, sport) weight and a D/3.25 mm hook]
~Yarn needle
~Sewing Needle and thread
~Small piece of ½” elastic

Finished Size
Custom made to fit

Gauge
Not Important

Notes
Before beginning, measure your (or whoever you are making it for!) head. Most women should be about 19” and girls about 18”

Pattern
With MC, ch a multiple of 6 stitches + 1 (for most of mine I chain 91).

Round 1: 2sc in second ch from hook. Sc in each ch across. 3sc in last ch. Working up the unused loops of the ch, sc in each ch across. Join with a sl st to first sc. (184sc)

Round 2: ch1, sc in same st as joining. *sk 2 sts, [dc, ch1] 2 times in next st. dc in same st. sk 2 sts. Sc in next st. Repeat from * around. Join with a sl st to first sc. Finish off and weave in ends. (If necessary, you may need to add a sl st or two at the ends to help the ends to lay flat. Be sure to space the dc/fans across from one another)

Finishing Instructions
Measure finished crocheted piece. Subtract this measurement from the head circumference measured earlier. Cut a piece of ½” elastic the remaining measurement. Fold each end of the elastic over ½” and hand sew onto the wrong sides of the ends of the crocheted headband. Put on and feel pretty!

Twirls for Girls!

Ok....I think this is just AMAZING! I am always up for a good charity event and this one is so close to my heart it's scary!! http://www.twirlsforgirls.com/

My friends at YouCanMakeThis.com have teamed up with Toys for Tots to supply adorable handmade clothing for all those special dolls that will be donated this holiday season!

For those of you who don't know, my maternal grandmother is where I get all my creative talent from. She was an amazing seamstress and doll maker. She made tons of quilts and her passion was dolls. She had a handmade doll from each state in the US and a few different countries!! And to think, she traded with all these people....so there are handmade dolls of hers scattered throught the world! (And all this before the internet! LOL!!!) Growing up, all my dolls had handmade clothing....crocheted or sewn! I still have some of it too!! Some of the first things I ever made were doll clothes! So of course this charity captured my imagination!

So this weekend I made my set to donate. I only wish I had the time to make a few more, but with me going on vacation in a few days my time is running short. So please, if you can spare the time and a little bit of fabric (or yarn!), I ask that you join us in this wonderful cause! And you might win some AWESOME prizes too!

Here is my contribution!
