Confessions of a crochet artist

Ok, confession time! Yes...I love to crochet, yes....I design mostly children's clothing, and yes....I crochet every free moment that I have.

But, you will probably never see me wearing anything crocheted. And you probably will not see my daughter wearing anything crocheted (except for modeling purposes!)

I have made myself a number of items. I do carry a crocheted purse occassionally. And I just made myself a new pair of mittens.....hopefully I will wear them! And Heather did get a few warm hats this winter and I do try to "make" her wear them out of the house, LOL!!

I think I will pack up a few of the items that I have made and do not use to take to my LYS. I'm sure they will be happy to display them, LOL!!

Anyone else care to make any crochet realated confessions??? Leave me a comment.

Sorry!!

I have been neglecting my poor blog lately!!! Between being mommy, babysitting, running MyPinkZebraBoutique.com, and crocheting/sewing I've been one busy little girl!! LOL!! I really want to get back to pattern writing, but I haven't gotten any inspirations lately. Boo hoo!! And I am soooo burnt out on sweaters right now that I could care less to make another one...even though I have three shrugs sitting in a basket and all they need is the second sleeve!! I really should work on them since they are perfect for spring and I could be selling them!! LOL!! Oh well....hopefully soon I'll feel up to it!

Roght now on my hook is a pair of mittens for me made from Bernat Soy in rice. I love this yarn! It is sooooo soft! Hopefully warm too! I also want to make Heather a hat and mitten set before spring! LOL!!

Here is a picture of Heather from our trip to the Denver Aquarium last week. Can you see how BIG that fish is behind her!

My first class!

Yesterday I taught my first crochet class!!! It was so amazing to teach people something I love!! It was held at my LYS, Tangle, and I taught three wonderful women! We learned the basic stitches, then proceeded to start on the Tangle Sampler Purse pattern that I designes specifically for this class. This pattern was designed to teach all the basics....single crochet, half-double crochet, double crochet, increaseing, decreasing, and sewing seams. We meet again next Saturday and their homework is to have the front of the purse completed. I'll let you all know how it goes!

Wanted to share!

Sorry it has been so long since I posted, things got a little crazy around here, LOL!!

I wanted to share this with all of you crochet enthusiasts that read my little blog. Kim Guzman, a designer that I have corresponded with a few times and love to read her blog, has posted the brutal truth about the crochet design business and copyright infringement.

I encourage all of you to read the post HERE.

Double the fun!

A new adventure is starting in our household. Today I have started watching the neighbor girl, Kathryn, while her parents work. I felt so bad for her having to go to daycare every day...plus felt bad for the parents and the amount of $$ they were forking over...so I figured I could use a little extra cash and watch her a few days a week. Luckily she is 5 and Heather's best friend, so they get along great together. Just the occasional argument over what to play first, LOL!!

Our fist day went well. Heather had dance this morning and then we ran a bunch of errands. Then home for lunch. And guess what??? I made them both sit down and watch a movie and now they are both fast asleep!! LOL!! Not too bad! But I do think I need to make up a household schedule to keep us all in line.

Good news is.....think of how much creating I can get done while they occupy each other!! Whoooohoooooo!!!!!!!!!
