Stitch of the Week!

Are you a crocheter??? Do you belong to the CGOA??? Well, you should!! The Crochet Guild of America is the most amazing organization!! I don't know where I would be right now without them!!

Well, over on our Yahoo board we have been doing something called The Stitch of the Week. Any member is allowed to teach their favorite stitch to the rest of the group. I've learned some wonderful new stitches and have even been inspired by a few of them to create a new pattern!! (see my Breast Cancer Awareness Skinny Scarf!) Well, this is my week to teach!!! I decided to do the Herringbone Half-Double crochet!
This group has been wonderful to me!! I joined their Associate Professional program earlier this year and was assigned a wonderful mentor....Miss Dee of CrochetWithDee! She has been an amazing inspiration to me and an amazing help! I've also corresponded with some other fabulous designers....The phenomenal Drew "The Crochet Dude", the adorable Kim Guzman, and the creative Vashti just to name a few! What a wonderful ride it's been!!! Personally I am just amazed at the number of design submissions that I have already had accepted!! And I don't think any of them could've happened without the help of these designers and the CGOA!
So, if you like to crochet, I strongly recommend that you join the CGOA!! (Especially if you are in Grand Junction!!! I want to start a local chapter!!!!)
Happy Crocheting!

On eBay

I just listed this adorable Christmas set of Heather's. She was able to wear it for the last two years, but unfortunately she has now outgrown it. It was made by the amazing Molly of M.Frye Designs. If you are not familiar with her work, it is AMAZING!! All finished in french seams and the top is lined!! Heather looked beautiful in it last year when we went and saw the Nutcracker ballet!!! Only worn a few times and still in excellent condition!!

You can find it HERE!

Update!

Ok, anyone else want to exchange links?? I'll be updating my list this afternoon.

I have a headcold....ick!! So it looks like I will be heading to WalMart soon for a kleenex run! Oh...and some NyQuil/DayQuil! And while I'm at it, I should pick up some more yarn, LOL!!

My pattern progress.....wrapping up a pattern today. Just need to draw out the schematics, attach some lables, and send it off in the mail!! Whoo hooo!! I plan on mailing it tomorrow since I don't think I'll catch the mailman today. But then I get to start another one for a different magazine! I already have the pattern written out, but they want me to use a different yarn. So I need to see if the yarn will work up to the same guage. HOPE SO!! If not, I basically have to re-write the whole thing!!! Oh...and they wanted a few minor changes too....no biggie! The deadline for this one is November 5th....wish me luck!

Ok....gotta go find where I left my box of kleenex!! Have a great weekend everyone!

Rejection!

Not what you expected after my last post, huh??? But it was bound to happen...eventually. Just got my first rejection letter from a magazine. But I really don't feel that bad about it. Probably because of the two contracts I already have coming in the mail, LOL!!

But now I am having a dilemma. One of the magazines asked that the sweater be made out of a certain yarn. The sweater was originally made with two strands of a baby sport yarn. And yes, the new yarn is a baby sport, but when I work up a swatch using two strands of it, it would make a lousy sweater, LOL!! So, what to do??? Alter the pattern so that is is made using only one strand.....or keep to the original and use two?? What would you do?
